Core Services
Anyone who enters the Career Center is eligible for the following services:

  • Initial Assessment
  • Job Search and Placement Assistance
  • Job Referrals
  • Job Development
  • Workshops

WIA Adult Program
Individuals 18 years and over have to meet income guidelines to be eligible. This program is designed to assist eligible persons in achieving their career goal.

WIA Dislocated Worker Program
Those eligible for dislocated worker services include workers permanently laid off from their job due to a workforce reduction, business closures or farm failure, displaced homemakers including military service members or military spouses. Services include:

  • Assessment of education, experience, and skills to determine marketability to the desired workforce area.
  • Assistance with basic education skills or a General Equivalency Degree.
  • Classroom training provides the classroom or vocational training necessary for laid-off workers to re-enter the workforce in a new occupation.
  • On-the-job training to provide laid-off workers the opportunity to train for a new job while working and earning a paycheck.
  • Job development and placement are provided to help laid-off workers find employment in high demand occupations.
  • Counseling to help workers overcome the trauma of job loss, loss of health care and other company benefits, strain of financial obligations, family problems, and uncertainties about remaining in the community.

Support Services
Workforce Investment Act (WIA) Support Services must be employment or training related and typically includes, but is not limited to, funding to provide the following:

  • Clothing
  • Supplies
  • Limited small equipment or tools
  • Transportation assistance
  • Payment for drug testing
  • Mental and medical evaluations
  • Exam Fees
  • Other employment or training fees may be authorized.

Funding to assist with Support Services is based on individual need and individual agency budget restraints. Needs related support services are available only during training.

Training Services
Multiple training programs are available to assist eligible job seekers with gaining the skills needed to obtain employment in today’s economy.

Classroom Occupational Skill Training
Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA)/Trade Readjustment Assistance (TRA)
Offered in the Missouri Career Centers, the TAA and TRA programs assist workers, with occupational skill training, who become totally or partially unemployed as a result of increased imports or movement of business operations to a foreign country.

Workforce Investment Act (WIA)
Offered in the Missouri Career Centers, the WIA and Dislocated Worker programs help eligible individuals prepare for employment through classroom occupational skill training.

On-the-Job Training (OJT).
OJT is training provided at a worksite by an employer. The trainee is an employee of the participating business and trainees receive wages and/or benefits while learning a new skill. OJT is available for eligible job seekers through WIA and the TRA.

Work Ready Missouri Program
The Work Ready Missouri Program provides an opportunity for individuals receiving Unemployment Insurance (UI) Compensation to receive occupational worksite training on a part-time basis for up to six weeks. Program trainees continue to receive UI and receive up to $300 training allowance.
